Coach Wright is entering his 20th season at the helm of the Bruins baseball program. During his 20 season he has compiled a record of 292-116. The Bruins have won (2) 6A state titles, appeared in (3) 6A state finals, (5) 6A state final fours, (4) 6A regional titles, (7) southeastern district titles, and (3) southeastern district tournament titles. In Coach Wright's 20 seasons, the Bruins have put 50 players playing baseball at the collegiate level. There have also been 6 players drafted by MLB teams during this tenure, and one making it to the Major league level. Coach Wright is a 1988 graduate of Great Bridge High School, and a 1992 graduate of Bridgewater College. Coach Wright is married to Sarah Wright- Western Branch High School softball head coach. They have three sons: Jacob (17), Joshua (17), Nathan (15); and an adoptive daughter: Elizabeth (26).
Coach Justin Hayes Head JV Coach
Coach Juddy is a 2014 graduate of Western Branch High, where he was a member of the 2014 State Championship team. Out of high school he continued his academic and baseball career at Old Dominion University (2014-2016) and finished up at Norfolk State University (2017-2019). During his collegiate career, Justin collected a couple post season accolades each year as a Spartan with 1st team selections to the ALL MEAC TEAM as an outfielder, as well as VaSID All-State first team selection in 2018. He posted a career batting average of .300, was ranked 7th in the nation for stolen bases per game in 2018 and in 2019 he was ranked in the top 20 in both stolen bases per game and total stolen bases. Justin currently holds a single season stolen base record for NSU in their D1 era with 30 stolen bases. Coach Juddy graduated from Norfolk State in 2019 with a B.S. in Business Management and is currently working as a junior estimator/project manager at Everett Mechanical Corporation. He joined the WBHS coaching staff in 2020. Coach Hayes is entering his second official season as the Head JV Coach since Covid.
Coach Nick Stewart Assistant Coach Coach Nick joins the staff for his first season as the varsity pitching coach after finishing his collegiate career at James Madison University (2018-2022). During his career, Nick was a four-year starting pitcher compiling 171.2 innings on the mound, while recording 168 strikeouts. He earned several accolades throughout his collegiate career, including being named to the VASID All State (2018, 2019), CAA All Rookie team (2018) and received recognition as a freshman All-American (2018). His career extended from JMU when he played in the Cape Cod Baseball Summer League during the summer of (2019). Playing against the best college talent in the nation, Nick posted a record of 3-1, while recording 38 strikeouts over 30 innings. This resulted in Coach Nick being ranked as a top 100 MLB College prospect, as well the #1 MLB prospect out of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) his junior year. He graduated from JMU in 2021 with a B.S in Business Management as well as wrapped his tenure up with a graduate degree in Cyber Intelligence the following year (2022). Coach Nick is excited to be a part of the Bruins staff and working with their pitchers.
